Hastelloy C276 pipe is the nickel-chromium-molybdenum grade that most enquiries mean when they refer to Hastelloy C pipe. High nickel and molybdenum give the alloy its resistance to reducing acids, while chromium handles oxidising conditions.

MLTI Private Limited (Moonlight Tube Industries) ranks among the established Hastelloy pipe manufacturers, suppliers, and exporters in India, working in Gujarat since 2008. The Hastelloy C-series grades are nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys that are corrosion-resistant, and we produce and source Hastelloy C276 pipe. Seamless Hastelloy pipe lengths, pierced and extruded from solid billet, are certified to ASTM B622 / ASME SB-622, and Hastelloy welded pipe lengths, electric-resistance-welded along one seam from flat-rolled strip, to ASTM B619 / ASME SB-619, with ASTM B775 carrying the general requirements for the welded route. The grade is designated UNS N10276 and W.Nr. 2.4819. Nickel forms the balance, alongside 15.0 to 17.0% molybdenum, 14.5 to 16.5% chromium, 4.0 to 7.0% iron, and 3.0 to 4.5% tungsten, with carbon capped at 0.010%. Both product specifications require a minimum tensile strength of 690 MPa, a minimum yield strength of 283 MPa, and a minimum elongation of 40% in the solution-annealed condition.

Our size envelope ranges from 1/8" NB to 10" NB in SCH 5S, 10S, 40S, and 80S, dimensioned to ASME B36.19M. SCH 20S walls sit outside ASME B36.19M and are supplied as a commercial series against the wall thickness stated on the order. Round, square, and rectangular sections are available in single random, double random, and cut lengths. Consignments are released only after a positive material identification (PMI) check, a dimensional inspection, the tension and hydrostatic or non-destructive electric tests required by the specification, and an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate.

Hastelloy Pipe Grades
Hastelloy pipe grades are known for their strong resistance to corrosion, heat, and pressure. They are commonly used in industries where durability and performance are important. We supply Hastelloy C276 pipe in this grade range.
Hastelloy Pipe Forms and Types
Two manufacturing routes and three section profiles cover the Hastelloy alloy pipe we supply. The route fixes the governing standard; the profile fixes the installation.

Hastelloy Seamless Pipe
Hastelloy C276 seamless pipe carries no longitudinal weld because the bore is formed by piercing and extruding a heated billet. ASTM B622 / ASME SB-622 governs the route. Small-bore acid injection lines are ordered this way.

Hastelloy Welded (ERW) Pipe
Hastelloy welded (ERW) pipe is produced by rolling and electric resistance welding a strip into a continuous tube. ASTM B619 / ASME SB-619 covers the welded route. It is used in corrosion-resistant process lines where a longitudinal seam is acceptable to the design code.

Hastelloy Round Pipe
Round sections account for almost everything we dispatch. Neither product specification allows for anything but a round section, and a circular wall spreads hoop stress evenly, which is why pressure-retaining acid lines are specified as round.

Hastelloy Square Pipe
Square Hastelloy pipe sits outside the dimensional scope of B622 and B619, so it's supplied against a drawing stating face dimensions and wall thickness. It goes into frames and supports inside a corrosive plant, where the flat faces bolt down directly without machined seats.

Hastelloy Rectangular Pipe
Rectangular Hastelloy pipe is ordered by two face dimensions and a wall thickness rather than by nominal bore. Support steelwork and duct framing exposed to acid mist take this profile because the deeper face resists bending.
Hastelloy Pipe Size
Sixteen nominal bores and five schedules make up the range. The table below lists Hastelloy pipe sizes by nominal bore, outside diameter, and nominal wall in millimetres.

Industrial Applications of Hastelloy Pipes
Corrosion service, not temperature or pressure, decides where this alloy gets specified. The five sectors below account for most of the Hastelloy pipe leaving our stock.

Chemical and Petrochemical Processing
Acid transfer lines, reactor recycle loops and absorber piping handle hydrochloric and sulphuric acid alongside chlorinated organics. Nickel and molybdenum carry the alloy through reducing conditions, while chromium maintains passivity in oxidising conditions, allowing it to resist both environments in the same line, which few stainless grades can achieve.

Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemicals
A pharmaceutical plant runs batch reactions with halide catalysts and strong mineral acids at low volume and high product value. Hastelloy pipe is specified for transfer and vent lines where iron pickup could contaminate the batch.

Oil and Gas
Sour service puts chlorides, hydrogen sulphide, and free water into one stream. This alloy pipes amine sweetening circuits, separator interconnects and wellhead spools, resisting sulphide stress cracking and chloride pitting together.

Power Generation
Flue-gas desulphurisation absorbers, quench headers and reheat ducting sit below the acid dew point, where condensate turns to dilute hydrochloric and sulphuric acid. Hastelloy piping goes into the recycle and spray lines.

Pollution Control and Waste Treatment
Incinerator scrubber circuits and effluent neutralisation plants carry hypochlorite, wet chlorine and mixed organic acids at shifting pH. Hastelloy alloy pipe handles the swing between oxidising and reducing conditions that degrade lined carbon steel.

Hastelloy Pipe FAQs
Hastelloy pipe is used in chemical and petrochemical processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, sour oil and gas service, flue-gas desulphurisation in power plants, and scrubber and effluent circuits in pollution control. The common factor is a corrosive stream, not high pressure.
ASTM B622 covers seamless Hastelloy pipe, and ASTM B619 covers welded Hastelloy pipe, adopted by ASME as SB-622 and SB-619. ASTM B775 carries general requirements for the welded route, and ASTM B829 for the seamless route. We quote the applicable clause and grade requirements against your enquiry; the standards themselves are available from ASTM International.
The Hastelloy pipe specifications we work to are ASTM B622 / ASME SB-622 for seamless and ASTM B619 / ASME SB-619 for welded, in grade Hastelloy C276, UNS N10276. The Hastelloy C276 pipe specification also fixes minima of 690 MPa tensile strength and 283 MPa yield strength in the solution-annealed condition.
Hastelloy C276 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with tungsten, designed for use in reducing acids, chlorides, and mixed-acid streams. On clean water, steam or structural duty, the stainless grade does the same job at a far lower metre rate.
Hastelloy pipe sizes range from 1/8" NB to 10" NB, with wall thicknesses from 1.24 mm to 12.70 mm. SCH 5S, 10S, 40S and 80S are dimensioned to ASME B36.19M; SCH 20S sits outside that standard and is supplied as a commercial series against the wall thickness stated on the order. Round, square, and rectangular sections are supplied.
Hastelloy pipe welding is normally gas tungsten arc with matching ERNiCrMo-4 filler, argon shielding, and a root purge. Heat input stays low, and interpass temperature is controlled. Because carbon is capped at 0.010%, welding Hastelloy pipe rarely requires a post-weld solution anneal.
No. Hastelloy C276 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy selected for resistance to reducing acids, chlorides, and mixed-acid streams. Inconel grades are nickel-chromium alloys, some also containing molybdenum and niobium, selected primarily for high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance. The two families are not interchangeable, and selection follows the process stream.
