316L Seamless Pipe
SS 316L seamless pipe starts from a hot-pierced billet, drawn down to a finished wall. No longitudinal joint runs through the wall, and a stainless steel pipe 316L seamless enquiry is stated by bore and schedule.

MLTI Private Limited (Moonlight Tube Industries) is a certified 316L stainless steel pipe manufacturer and exporter in Gujarat. We have been producing stainless pipe since 2008 and have an annual capacity of 8,000 MT. As a 316L stainless steel pipe supplier, we work to ASTM A312 / ASME SA-312, certifying the grade as TP316L, UNS S31603. Molybdenum sets this composition apart from the 18/8 group: SA-312 fixes 2.00 to 3.00% molybdenum alongside 16.0 to 18.0% chromium and 10.0 to 14.0% nickel. The addition raises the pitting resistance equivalent number, holding the passive film in chloride-bearing media. Carbon is capped at 0.035% maximum, which restricts chromium carbide precipitation in the weld heat-affected zone, so girth welds can normally be left in the as-welded condition without a post-weld solution anneal.

Certified minima are 485 MPa tensile, 170 MPa yield and 35% elongation. Our 316L SS pipe programme covers 1/8" NB to 10" NB in SCH 5S, 10S, 20S, 40S and 80S to ASME B36.19, in random lengths of 4.6 to 7.3 metres (15 to 24 ft) as ASTM A312 clause 13.1.1 provides, with 6 m and 12 m cut lengths to order. Our production includes 316L stainless steel seamless pipes, which are pierced from solid billets to carry extreme pressure without seams, and 316L stainless steel welded pipes, which are roll-formed from flat strips and seam-fused, including high-frequency ERW lines, where the strip edges are raised to forging temperature by the welding current and closed under squeeze-roll pressure without filler metal, a process this mill was built around. Chemical and petrochemical headers, pharmaceutical process lines and treated-water circuits take most of the dispatch. Solution annealing at 1040°C minimum precedes release against an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate. ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications, BIS, EIL, IBR and PED approvals cover the works.
The table below sets out the governing and dimensional standards, bore range, schedule, wall, tolerance, length, manufacturing form, finish, ends and heat treatment for 316L stainless steel pipe.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Applicable Standards | ASTM A312/ASME SA-312: Seamless, Welded, and Heavily Cold Worked Austenitic Stainless Steel Pipes |
| Dimensional standard | ASME B36.19 |

Dual certification places one heat inside two grade windows at once. Carbon holds at or below the TP316L ceiling, tension still reaches the TP316 minima, and one length satisfies either call-out on the drawing.
Chromium, nickel and molybdenum govern how grade 316L behaves in service. Element limits for UNS S31603 pipe under ASME SA-312 appear in the table below.
| Element | Composition (%) |
|---|---|
| Carbon (C) | 0.035 max |
| Manganese (Mn) | 2.00 max |
| Phosphorus (P) | 0.045 max |
| Sulphur (S) | 0.030 max |
| Silicon (Si) | 1.00 max |
| Chromium (Cr) | 16.0 to 18.0 |
| Nickel (Ni) | 10.0 to 14.0 |
| Molybdenum (Mo) | 2.00 to 3.00 |
| Iron (Fe) | Balance |
Molybdenum entering at 2.00 to 3.00% is what lifts 316L above the plain chromium-nickel grades in chloride service. Calculated from the SA-312 limits, its pitting resistance equivalent number falls between 23 and 28. Open seawater at a raised temperature still needs duplex.
Three tensile figures clear TP316L against a design pressure, each determined by ASTM A370 after annealing. SA-312 minima are set out in the table below.
| Property | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Tensile strength, min | 485 MPa (70 ksi) |
| Yield strength, min | 170 MPa (25 ksi) |
| Elongation in 50 mm, min, longitudinal | 35% |
| Elongation in 50 mm, min, transverse | 25% |
Wall thickness doesn't alter the certified minima, and 485 MPa applies from SCH 5S to SCH 80S. Pressure rating adds diameter, wall, temperature and allowable stress.
Export drawings arrive on a national register, and AISI 316L pipe carries a separate code in each. The table below sets each national equivalent against UNS S31603 pipe.

Two decisions sit behind an order for stainless steel pipe 316L: construction route, then finished section. Two routes and three profiles follow.

SS 316L seamless pipe starts from a hot-pierced billet, drawn down to a finished wall. No longitudinal joint runs through the wall, and a stainless steel pipe 316L seamless enquiry is stated by bore and schedule.

316L welded pipe, including ERW, is formed by rolling annealed strip into a tube and fusing the edges without filler metal; squeeze rolls close the joint after the current raises the edges to forging temperature.

A round 316L stainless pipe is supplied in every schedule on our programme, SCH 5S through SCH 80S, to ASME B36.19 dimensions. Process headers run around.
Square
Square 316L pipe is rolled to firm order on the box section line, 12 x 12 mm up to 100 x 100 mm, on walls of 1.0 to 6.0 mm.
Rectangular
Rectangular profiles run 13 x 25 mm up to 100 x 50 mm on the same walls, to 12 metres.
Five schedules cover 316L stainless steel pipe sizes between 1/8 inch NB and 10 inch NB. The 316L stainless steel pipe dimensions chart below sets every bore against its wall to ASME B36.19.

Five sectors use 316L pipe, and chloride exposure runs through four of them.

Marine grade stainless is the working name for 316L, earned in coastal service, where salt spray and splash-zone wetting attack the passive film. Jetty handrail and deck drainage take it.

Reactor feed headers and column overheads run in 316L where sulphuric, phosphoric and acetic acid streams are present. Welded spools reach the site unannealed.

Pharmaceutical process lines, brewery product runs and edible oil refining specify 316L pipe for product contact service. Pipe is supplied solution annealed and pickled; where product-contact service calls for a defined internal surface roughness, a polished or electropolished finish is quoted against the specified Ra.

Treated water mains, filtered process water and desalination product-water runs use 316L stainless steel pipes where grade 304 would pit at municipal chloride levels; raw seawater intakes and brine circuits are quoted in duplex.

Exchanger shells, condenser water boxes and storage vessel nozzles in 316L take cooling water on one face and process fluid on the other. Thermal cycling leaves the seam unsensitised.
Our stainless steel 316L pipes are packed and shipped with care to ensure they reach you in excellent condition. We follow standard export packaging practices and provide the required documentation with every order.
Nickel and molybdenum settle daily on the LME, so a 316L stainless steel pipe price is approximately ₹300–₹550/kg, equivalent to approximately US$3.40–US$6.20/kg. Eight inputs set the 316L pipe price. Quantity, bore, schedule, wall, cut length, route, finish and certification scope each move the figure. Seamless carries a premium, so an SS 316L seamless pipe price sits above the welded equivalent at the same bore and wall. Marketplace figures given as an SS 316L pipe price are listings, not offers.
Buyers return to Moonlight Tubes for certified material, approved grades and stock that ships on schedule. Every order is backed by documented quality, a wide size range and delivery commitments we hold to.
316L pipe is a low-carbon austenitic pipe made to ASTM A312 grade TP316L, UNS S31603, holding 16.0 to 18.0% chromium and 2.00 to 3.00% molybdenum.
Carbon is the difference: 0.035% maximum in 316L against 0.08% in 316. That lower ceiling stops chromium carbide from forming in weld heat-affected zones, which is what makes the low-carbon grade the safer choice on welded assemblies.
316L stainless steel pipe price is approximately ₹300–₹550/kg, equivalent to approximately US$3.40–US$6.20/kg. Per-kilogram rates follow nickel and molybdenum on the LME. We issue a dated figure against bore, wall, schedule and quantity.
Stainless steel 316L pipes serve marine installations, petrochemical headers, pharmaceutical and food process lines, water treatment plant and exchanger circuits.
Our 316L stainless steel pipe sizes cover 1/8" NB to 10" NB in SCH 5S, 10S, 20S, 40S and 80S, on 1.24 mm to 12.70 mm walls.
Specify 316L seamless pipe for high pressure or cyclic load. Welded and ERW construction costs less at the same bore.
An EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate covers every consignment, giving heat number, chemical analysis and tensile results.
We despatch direct from Umbergaon, with export cargo clearing. Our quotation states certification scope in full for comparison against other SS 316L pipe suppliers.
