Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe Manufacturer in India

MLTI Private Limited (Moonlight Tube Industries) manufactures Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe, grade TP316Ti (UNS S31635), to ASTM A312 / ASME SA-312 in Gujarat, India. We have been producing stainless steel pipe since 2008 and have an annual capacity of roughly 8,000 MT. 316Ti is the titanium-stabilised member of the 316 family. The alloy carries 16.0 to 18.0% chromium, 10.0 to 14.0% nickel, and 2.00 to 3.00% molybdenum, and titanium is specified at a minimum of five times the combined carbon and nitrogen content. That single addition keeps carbon away from chromium during welding, which is why plants require 316Ti rather than plain 316 on lines sitting inside the 425°C to 815°C sensitisation band.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe Manufacturer in India

Strength follows the austenitic pattern: a 515 MPa minimum tensile strength, a 205 MPa minimum yield strength, and a 35% minimum elongation. Cross-standard designations include 1.4571 in Europe and SUS 316Ti in Japan. Our SS 316Ti pipe ranges from 1/8" NB to 10" NB in SCH 5S, 10S, 20S, 40S, and 80S in single-random and double-random lengths to ASTM A312, in seamless and welded (ERW) form. Seamless 316Ti pipe carries no longitudinal seam, so ASME B31.3 credits it a joint quality factor of 1.00, and refinery and steam lines call for it by default. Stainless Steel 316Ti welded pipes (ERW) close the seam by an automatic process that adds no filler metal, as ASTM A312 demands, and titanium from the parent strip carries through the fusion zone. These pipes suit low-pressure circulation and structural range.

All three forms get a solution anneal above 1040°C before testing. Pharmaceutical processing, chemical processing, marine service, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, and shipbuilding are the sectors that use this grade. Every length is hydrostatically tested in accordance with ASTM A312 before despatch, and export consignments leave on FOB or CFR terms. The price is built from grade, size, wall, quantity, form, standard, and finish rather than a fixed rate card. We are an ISO 14001 and ISO 45001-certified manufacturer holding IBR, EIL, and PED 2014/68/EU approvals.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe Chemical Composition

316Ti pipe holds 16.0 to 18.0% chromium, 10.0 to 14.0% nickel, and 2.00 to 3.00% molybdenum. Element limits in the table below are taken from ASME SA-312 for UNS S31635.

Manganese (Mn)2.00 max
Phosphorus (P)0.045 max
Sulphur (S)0.030 max
Silicon (Si)0.75 max
Chromium (Cr)16.0 to 18.0

Molybdenum (Mo)2.00 to 3.00
Nitrogen (N)0.10 max
Titanium (Ti)5 × (C + N) min, 0.70 max

Why Titanium is added to 316Ti Pipe

Titanium is a stronger carbide former than chromium. SA-312 sets the addition at a minimum of five times the sum of carbon and nitrogen, capped at 0.70%, so enough titanium is present to combine with the available carbon as titanium carbide. Chromium then stays in solid solution. An unstabilised austenitic pipe held between 425°C and 815°C precipitates chromium carbide along its grain boundaries, and the chromium left in the adjacent band falls below the roughly 12% needed to hold a passive film. Welding drives the heat-affected zone straight through that band, so a titanium-stabilised 316 pipe resists intergranular attack at the weld.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipes Mechanical Properties

ASME SA-312 TP316Ti pipe carries a 515 MPa minimum tensile strength, 205 MPa minimum yield strength, and a 35% minimum elongation. The tensile requirements needed to rate the line are given in the table below.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe Types and Forms

Alloy 316Ti pipe reaches the market as seamless or welded (ERW); EFW sits outside our size range. Profiles and finishes close the section.

316Ti Seamless Pipe Seamless
01

316Ti Seamless Pipe

Seamless 316Ti pipe starts as a solid billet, pierced and drawn without a longitudinal joint. With no longitudinal weld, there is no seam to examine or qualify under high-pressure cyclic duty.

316Ti Welded / ERW Pipe Welded / ERW
02

316Ti Welded / ERW Pipe

We form welded 316Ti pipe from strip and forge the edges together without filler metal, then solution anneal, quench, and pickle every length. ERW suits SCH 5S and 10S. Cost per metre sits below seamless.

316Ti Round Pipe Round
03

316Ti Round Pipe

Round is the only profile we certify to ASTM A312, from 1/8" NB to 10" NB across SCH 5S, 10S, 20S, 40S, and 80S. Hydrostatic testing, B31.3 joint quality factors, and pressure duty apply to this profile alone.

316Ti Square Pipe Square
04

316Ti Square Pipe

The Square 316Ti hollow section runs on a separate line at our plant and falls outside the ASTM A312 scope. Orders quote outside dimensions and walls in millimetres rather than NB and schedule. Frames, railings, machine guarding, and architectural work take most of this output.

316Ti Rectangular Pipe Rectangular
05

316Ti Rectangular Pipe

The rectangular 316Ti section shares the square line and the same solution-annealed and pickled condition. Two face dimensions plus a wall define the size, with the longer face quoted first. Structural spans and support steelwork favour this profile over square at equal weight per metre.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe Sizes

Our SS316Ti pipe ranges from 1/8" NB to 10" NB in five schedules, with schedules explained in the first subsection below and lengths in the second. Diameters and theoretical weights appear in the table below; wall thickness for Schedules 5S, 10S, 20S, 40S, and 80S follows ASME B36.19M, and Schedule 20S walls are supplied to MLTI's standard mill dimensions.

316Ti Pipe Schedules and Wall Thickness

Schedule fixes wall thickness against a constant outside diameter. A 4" NB pipe stays at 114.3 mm OD whether the wall is 2.11 mm or 8.56 mm. We supply 5S, 10S, 20S, 40S and 80S only.

SS 316Ti Pipe Length and Cut-to-Size Options

Standard despatch is in single random and double random lengths, which ASTM A312 sets at 15 ft to 24 ft (4.6 m to 7.3 m) for sizes up to 10" NB. We cut to a nominated length on request, and longer mill lengths in welded pipe are quoted case by case, which reduces the number of site joints.

TP316Ti Pipe Weight Chart

Weight per metre decides the invoice, since we quote 316Ti pipe by the kilogram and not by the length. The chart below runs from 0.28 kg/mt at 1/8" NB in SCH 10S up to 96 kg/mt at 10" NB in SCH 80S. Multiply the figure by your total metreage before requesting a quotation.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe Industrial Applications

Alloy 316Ti pipe is specified where elevated temperature and chloride corrosion occur together. Six sectors take most of our output: pharmaceutical processing, chemical processing, marine service, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, and shipbuilding.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe for Pharmaceutical Processing
01

Pharmaceutical Processing

Pharmaceutical plants use 316Ti pipe on utility and process-support lines rather than product-contact water loops, where ASME BPE calls for 316L. Typical duties are jacketed reactor services, thermal fluid circuits, and solvent recovery lines, where field-welded spools see temperatures high enough for carbide precipitation to matter and the titanium addition holds the weld.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe for Chemical Processing
02

Chemical Processing

Molybdenum is what makes acid duty possible. Chemical plants specify SS 316Ti pipe for phosphoric acid service, for dilute and cold or high-concentration ambient sulphuric acid, and for reactor feed lines welded on site.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe for Marine and Seawater Service
03

Marine and Seawater Service

Chloride pitting determines grade selection in coastal plants, and the 2.00 to 3.00% molybdenum in 316Ti lifts pitting resistance well above a 304 line. Typical duties are coastal atmospheric service, brackish and low-chloride cooling water, and the vapour-side and downstream lines in desalination plants.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe for Heat Exchangers and Elevated-Temperature Service
04

Heat Exchangers and Elevated-Temperature Service

The connecting piping and channel-side lines on heat exchangers often operate with metal temperatures inside the sensitisation window. 316Ti pipe holds its grain-boundary chemistry through repeated thermal cycling.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe for Exhaust Systems
05

Exhaust Systems

Exhaust and flue gas piping meets acidic condensate and cyclic heat across three duties: engines, generator sets, and industrial burners. Scaling resistance matches plain 316, but the welds survive the thermal cycling that standard 316 does not.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe for Shipbuilding
06

Shipbuilding

Shipyards use 316Ti pipe on four services: ballast, bilge, fire main, and fuel oil. Yard welding is manual and heavy, with no solution treatment afterwards, so the titanium has to do the stabilising that a furnace would otherwise do.

316Ti Pipe Shipping and Packaging

316Ti pipe ships bundled and strapped in wooden cases or crates. Packing, marking, documentation, and despatch terms are summarised in the table below.

  • Packing: Bundled and strapped wooden cases or crates by size and quantity
  • Marking: Grade, standard, heat number, size, and schedule; custom marking to order
  • Documentation: EN 10204 3.1 material test certificate and ASTM A312 test reports
  • Length handling: Single random, double random, and cut lengths are available as per ASTM A312.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe Price

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe is quoted at ₹280–₹450 per kg in India and US$1.90–2.50/kg in the USA (about ₹160–210/kg at current exchange rates). The final price depends on seven key variables rather than a fixed rate card. Grade sets the base cost, with titanium and 2.00–3.00% molybdenum making 316Ti more expensive than 304 and standard 316. Size and wall thickness influence the price next, as a 10" NB SCH 80S pipe weighs 65.9 kg per metre compared with just 0.494 kg for a 1/8" NB SCH 5S pipe. Quantity, standard, and finish further affect the quoted rate, while seamless pipes generally carry a premium over ERW pipes.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Pipe Frequently Asked Questions

316Ti pipe carries titanium at a minimum of five times the carbon plus nitrogen content, capped at 0.70 %. Plain 316 pipe has no such requirement. TP316Ti also carries a tighter silicon limit of 0.75 % maximum against 1.00% for TP316 and a nitrogen limit of 0.10 % maximum; the remaining element ranges match under ASTM A312.

Specify 316Ti pipe for welded assemblies operating inside the 425°C to 815°C band, where low carbon alone stops protecting the joint. 316L pipe answers ambient and cryogenic service at a lower cost.

304 pipe contains neither molybdenum nor titanium. 316Ti pipe adds 2.00 to 3.00% molybdenum for chloride pitting resistance and titanium for carbide stabilisation.

316H pipe earns its creep strength from a controlled carbon range of 0.04 to 0.10%. 316-Ti holds carbon at 0.08% maximum and ties it up as titanium carbide instead.

Type 316Ti pipe is UNS S31635 in the United States, 1.4571 or X6CrNiMoTi17-12-2 in Europe, SUS 316Ti in Japan, and 06Cr17Ni12Mo2Ti in China. The British designation is 320S31.

The price of SS 316Ti is ₹280–₹450 per kg in India and US$1.90–2.50/kg (about ₹160–210/kg at current exchange rates) in the USA. Pricing depends on the nickel and molybdenum indices, the schedule, and the order tonnage. Send the size, wall, and quantity for a dated rate.

We manufacture 316Ti pipe from 1/8" NB to 10" NB in SCH 5S, SCH 10S, SCH 20S, SCH 40S, and SCH 80S to ASME B36.19M dimensions. Lengths are supplied single random and double random to ASTM A312 or cut to order.

316Ti pipe is supplied in both forms. Our ASTM A312 TP316Ti range covers seamless and welded (ERW) pipe within the 1/8" to 10" NB range.

Material test certificates to EN 10204 3.1 accompany every consignment, recording heat chemistry, tensile results, and the 100% hydrostatic test to ASTM A312. Third-party PMI, IGC, and radiography are arranged on request.
