Duplex Steel S32205 Tube Manufacturer in India

MLTI (Moonlight Tube Industries) has manufactured, supplied and exported Duplex Steel S32205 Tube from Gujarat, India, since 2008 for customers across India and international markets. Duplex Steel S32205 is a ferritic-austenitic stainless steel grade covered by ASTM A789 / ASME SA-789 for seamless and welded ferritic/austenitic stainless steel tubing. The grade is designated as UNS S32205 and W.Nr. 1.4462 and is commonly identified commercially as 2205 duplex stainless steel. Its specified composition includes 22.0 to 23.0% chromium, 4.5 to 6.5% nickel, 3.0 to 3.5% molybdenum and 0.14 to 0.20% nitrogen, with carbon limited to 0.030% maximum.

Duplex Steel S32205 Tube Manufacturer in India

The microstructure consists of ferrite and austenite phases in approximately balanced proportions, providing higher strength than conventional austenitic stainless steels along with good corrosion resistance. ASTM A789 / ASME SA-789 specifies a minimum tensile strength of 655 MPa (95 ksi), minimum yield strength of 485 MPa (70 ksi) and minimum elongation of 25% for S32205 tube, with a maximum hardness of 290 HBW. Our Duplex S32205 Tubing range includes seamless and welded (ERW) construction from 12.7 mm to 101.6 mm outside diameter.

The S32205 seamless tubes are manufactured via hot extrusion or cold drawing without a longitudinal weld seam. The S32205 welded ERW tubes are formed from high-quality steel strips and continuously welded using high-frequency electric resistance to ensure structural integrity. Wall thicknesses range from 1.07 mm (19 BWG) to 3.40 mm (10 BWG) in seamless construction and 1.016 mm (19 SWG) to 3.251 mm (10 SWG) in welded and ERW construction. Heat exchangers, seawater cooling systems, digester equipment and flue gas desulphurisation systems use this grade where both corrosion resistance and mechanical strength are required. 2205 stainless steel tubing is particularly suited to applications exposed to chloride-containing fluids and demanding process conditions. We hold ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications along with other approvals. Each consignment is supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate, with PMI, tensile, hardness and dimensional inspection available.

Types and Forms of UNS S32205 Tube

Duplex Steel S32205 tube is available in different manufacturing constructions and cross-sectional profiles. The manufacturing route determines whether the tube has a longitudinal weld, while the section profile is selected according to the installation and fabrication requirements.

Duplex S32205 Seamless Tube Seamless
01

Duplex S32205 Seamless Tube

Duplex S32205 seamless tube is manufactured from solid billet and processed without a longitudinal weld. The tube is supplied in the solution-annealed condition, and a flaring test is carried out on one tube from each lot, with the inside diameter expanded by a minimum of 10%.

Duplex S32205 Welded Tube (ERW) Welded / ERW
02

Duplex S32205 Welded Tube (ERW)

Duplex S32205 welded tubes are formed from strip and longitudinally joined with no filler metal added, including by the ERW process, then solution-treated at 1020 to 1100°C and rapidly cooled to ensure the required microstructure.

Duplex S32205 Round Tube Round
03

Duplex S32205 Round Tube

Round tube represents the principal dimensional range, covering 12.7 mm to 101.6 mm outside diameter. Heat exchanger bundles, cooling systems and process instrumentation applications commonly specify round duplex tubing. Wall thickness is quoted according to the required dimensional specification or gauge.

Duplex S32205 Square Tube Square
04

Duplex S32205 Square Tube

Square 2205 duplex tube is generally manufactured as a welded box section to the specified outside dimensions and wall thickness. It is used for equipment supports, frames and fabricated structures exposed to corrosive industrial environments. Square sections are supplied to ASTM A554, the standard specification for welded stainless steel mechanical tubing.

Duplex S32205 Rectangular Tube Rectangular
05

Duplex S32205 Rectangular Tube

Rectangular S32205 tube is ordered by outside width, height and wall thickness. Unlike pipe, it has no nominal bore or schedule, so the section size comes straight from the fabrication drawing. Welded rectangular sections are manufactured to ASTM A554.

Duplex Steel S32205 Tube for Power Generation
03

Power Generation

Flue gas desulphurisation systems expose equipment to chloride-containing recirculating slurry and acidic process conditions. 2205 duplex stainless steel tubing can be specified for selected cooling coils and process circuits where its corrosion and strength characteristics meet the service requirements.

Duplex Steel S32205 Tube for Pulp and Paper
04

Pulp and Paper

Digester liquor circuits and bleach plant equipment can expose tubing to chloride, acidic media and elevated temperatures. 2205 duplex heat exchanger tube is used for selected washer, evaporator and heat recovery applications.

Duplex Steel S32205 Tube for Desalination and Marine
05

Desalination and Marine

Seawater intake systems, evaporators and cooling equipment expose tube surfaces to warm chloride-containing water. Duplex Steel UNS S32205 Tubes can be selected for heat exchanger and seawater service where the design conditions are within the grade's corrosion resistance limits.

Duplex Steel S32205 Tube for Water Treatment
06

Water Treatment

Industrial and municipal water treatment systems can contain chloride, sulphide and suspended solids. Duplex Steel 2205 Tubing is used for selected heat recovery systems, sludge heating equipment and process tubing where higher mechanical strength and corrosion resistance are required.

S32205 Tube Heat Treatment

Heat treatment and cooling control are important when fabricating Duplex S32205 tube. Excessive exposure within the temperature range where intermetallic phases can form can affect toughness and corrosion resistance, while inappropriate cooling can disturb the required ferrite-austenite balance.

Duplex Steel S32205 tube requires careful temperature selection for continuous high-temperature service because prolonged exposure can promote intermetallic phase formation and reduce mechanical and corrosion performance. The grade also has limitations at low temperatures compared with austenitic stainless steels. Unlike fully austenitic stainless steel grades, duplex S32205 is magnetic because of its ferritic phase. With appropriate material selection, fabrication and cleaning practices, duplex 2205 tube is straightforward to maintain and gives reliable service in demanding industrial environments.

Frequently Asked Questions About Duplex Steel S32205 Tube

ASTM A789 / ASME SA-789 covers seamless and welded Duplex Steel S32205 Tubing. It specifies chemical composition, mechanical properties, mandatory heat treatment and testing requirements for ferritic/austenitic stainless steel tubing used in services requiring general corrosion resistance, with particular emphasis on resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

Duplex 2205 Tubing is available in outside diameters ranging from 12.7 mm to 101.6 mm. Seamless tube is supplied in wall thicknesses from 1.07 mm (19 BWG) to 3.40 mm (10 BWG), and welded and ERW tube from 1.016 mm (19 SWG) to 3.251 mm (10 SWG). Custom tube dimensions and cut lengths are supplied to project drawings.

A heat receives dual certification when its chemistry satisfies both designations. S32205 has tighter, higher minimum limits for chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen than the original S31803, allowing compliant S32205 material to automatically meet all S31803 requirements.

Yes. UNS S32205 and EN 1.4462 (X2CrNiMoN22-5-3) describe the same 22Cr duplex stainless steel grade under American and European naming systems. Products specified to EN 1.4462 can be matched with S32205 Tube provided product standards and certifications align.
